After I discovered the concept of “Generative Designing” (Designing method for architecture using A.I. and cloud-computing), I started to learn “Machine Learning” using Python every morning. (Btw, I have no CS degree)
The course I took was created by a YouTuber called, “TECH WITH TIM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPYj3fFJGjk”(ex google SE …I think?) using an extension called “Tensorflow”. ( It was REALLY GOOD by the way! I was able to enjoy the whole course until the very end.) It was roughly 6~7 hours long and he explained the concepts for each section with drawings. After each section, you answer a question and if you get it right, you get to go to the next video. The questions are very easy if you pay attention. Well, you get as many tries as you wish, so that lets you pass any questions without knowing the content, but that’s not the point here right?
After finishing the course, I was able to know the fundamentals of machine learning, but most importantly, I’ve noticed that I’m starting to like coding. And I thought about why I am liking it.
The first reason is that I’m confident that I’m making a small step towards being part of developing “Generative Designing”. I literally think that this is the FUTURE OF THE ARCHITECTURE INDUSTRY. It’s going to change how architects design, how information is passed down to the construction team, how architecture is constructed.
The other reason is that coding is a skill that can be applied anywhere. One of the reasons why I’m shifting my career in the first place is that most of the skills I’m learning right now are skills that are only useful in my company. Since one of my “primary aims”(a concept introduced in the book ‘e-myth revisited’ by Michael E. Gerber: A life goal that you would like to say that you’ve achieved at your own funeral) is “Independence”, The feeling of obtaining skills that’s not company-specific is helping the DRIVE.
I’ve started a new course on AWS (Udemy), so I’ll write about my thoughts again after I finish that off.
